Essential Functions:

• Works with management to plan and execute system upgrades/improvements, including hardware, operating system software, utility software, connectivity solutions, etc
• Installation of new software in iSeries environments.
• Document all iSeries administrator functions.
• Maintain failover and Disaster Recovery environments.
• Troubleshoot problems related to the operating system, replication, application and networking infrastructures.
• Evaluates Operations and Technical Services procedures to identify inefficiencies, security exposures and procedural problems, and makes recommendations
• Write scripts to automate and streamline system and operation tasks.
• Perform additional responsibilities as delegated by Blinds To Go management staff.
• Be able to perform tasks related to system tuning and balancing.
• Build new iSeries physical and logical partitioned systems with the use of the HMC.
• Set up and maintain iSeries systems. Keep servers up to current audit standards.
• Major software upgrade and PTF patch servers as needed.
• Support Blinds To Go Inc audit and security initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Be able to support the iSeries infrastructure during non-business hours. (nights, mornings and weekends) Remote access required.
• Work with different application team to complete new product initiatives.
• Provides training to Operations and Technical Services staff members.
• Support Finance, Manufacturing and helpdesk teams.
• Rotating weekend support

Position Requirements:

• Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Four-Year college degree or the equivalent industry experience.
• Strong OS knowledge of iSeries/System i i5 OS, V5R4, V6R1 or higher.
• Knowledge of iSeries partitioning
• General Networking and TCP/IP skills (addresses and ports),
• Knowledge of AS400 replication products such as Vision, DataMirror is plus.
• Backup through BRMS is plus.
• Web Servers Apache, Websphere knowledge is plus.

Additional Information:

• Company will be investing 6 to 9 months in business training.
• Travel. Approx. 10%
